In the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the Irele Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State with 17,334 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. Tinubu secured a clean sweep across all 18 LGAs in the state, ultimately winning Ondo with a total of 369,924 votes.
